TERMS & CONDITIONS

6.1 Installer Responsibility - The Purchaser is solely responsible for ensuring Tiles and Pavers are installed by a suitably qualified tiler in strict accordance with AS 3958.1 (Ceramic tiles - Guide to the installation of ceramic tiles) and the Manufacturer's Installation Guide.

6.2 Warranty Void for Non-Compliance - Tile and paver warranties (where applicable) are conditional on compliance with installation requirements. Non-compliant installation voids any warranty and may void ACL remedies where loss arises solely from such non-compliance. The Supplier accepts no liability for tile failure, cracking, debonding, hollow bedding, lippage, or efflorescence arising from installation that does not comply with this clause.

6.3 Minimum Installation Requirements for Tiles - Without limiting clause 6.2, the following apply to all tile and paver installations:

(a) Substrate must be structurally sound, clean, dry, and flat within the tolerances required by AS 3958.1 and the tile size. Large format tiles (600x600 and above) require substrate flatness within 3mm over 3 metres;

(b) A moisture barrier must be installed in all wet areas (bathrooms, laundries, pool surrounds) in accordance with AS 3740 (Waterproofing of domestic wet areas) prior to tiling;

​

(c) Only approved tile adhesives and grouts suitable for the specific tile type, substrate, and application (indoor/outdoor, wet/dry) may be used. The

installer is responsible for selecting appropriate adhesive;

​

(d) Movement and expansion joints must be installed at all structural joints, perimeter edges, changes of plane, and at maximum 4.5m intervals internally

and 3m intervals externally, in accordance with AS 3958.1;

​

(e) Large format tiles (600x600 and above) must be back-buttered and installed using a full-bed adhesive method to achieve minimum 95% adhesive contact coverage;

​

(f) Outdoor tiles and pavers must be installed with adequate falls for drainage, typically 1:100 minimum, to prevent water pooling; and

​

(g) Pool coping tiles must be installed using a pool-grade adhesive and grout with chemical resistance to chlorine and pool chemicals.

6.4 Slip Resistance - Critical Obligation - The Purchaser and their installer are solely responsible for ensuring that the tile selected has an appropriate P-Rating under AS 4586:2013 for the intended application. As a general guide: P3 minimum for wet domestic areas; P4 minimum for commercial wet areas and outdoor pedestrian surfaces; P5 for pool surrounds and areas with direct water flow. Polished and lappato finish tiles are not suitable for wet areas or outdoor use. The Supplier is not liable for any claim, injury, or loss arising from the installation of tiles with an inappropriate slip resistance rating for the application. For Natural Stone Products including Cobblestones, formal P-Rating testing may not be available. The Purchaser is solely responsible for assessing the suitability of the surface texture and finish for the intended application, particularly in wet or outdoor environments, and must seek independent technical advice where required. The Supplier accepts no liability for slip-related claims, injury, or loss arising from Natural Stone Products installed in any application.

6.5 Batch Consistency - The Purchaser must ensure all Tiles installed on a continuous surface are from the same Batch Number. The Supplier will not accept claims for visible colour variation between Tiles from different Batch Numbers. The Purchaser is responsible for ordering sufficient Tiles from the

same batch to complete the project, including waste allowance.

6.6 Waste Allowance - The Purchaser is responsible for calculating and ordering an appropriate waste allowance for their project. As a guide, a minimum of 10% is recommended for straight lay, 15% for diagonal or pattern lay, and 20% for complex cuts or mosaic. The Supplier is not liable for shortfalls arising from insufficient waste factor ordering. Tile batches may be discontinued without notice. For Cobblestones and Natural Stone Products, a minimum waste allowance of 15% is recommended for regular field laying and 20–25% for irregular or random patterns, curved areas, or projects with complex cuts, due to natural dimensional variation and higher cutting loss. Quarry Lots for Natural Stone Products may be discontinued or exhausted without notice.

6.7 Wall Tile Estimates - All wall tile quantity estimates provided by the Supplier are calculated on a floor-to-ceiling basis unless the Purchaser expressly advises alternative dimensions in writing at the time of ordering. The Purchaser is responsible for verifying quantities prior to placing the order.

6.8 Outdoor and Paver Applications - Outdoor tiles and pavers are subject to environmental conditions including thermal expansion, frost, UV exposure, and algae growth. The Supplier does not warrant Goods against damage arising from improper drainage, ground movement, tree root intrusion, or failure to apply and maintain appropriate sealant where recommended. Natural stone Cobblestones may be susceptible to freeze-thaw spalling and surface delamination in regions subject to frost. The Purchaser is responsible for selecting frost-resistant stone grades appropriate to the installation climate and the Supplier accepts no liability for freeze-thaw damage where the product was not specified for that purpose. The Purchaser is solely responsible for determining and confirming the intended use of all pavers and Cobblestones (pedestrian, light vehicular, or heavy vehicular) prior to ordering, and for ensuring appropriate sub-base design for that use. The Supplier is not liable for product failure arising from use in an application for which the product was not specified.

6.9 Cobblestones and Natural Stone Pavers — Installation and Use - Without limiting clauses 6.1, 6.2, and 6.8, the following requirements apply specifically to all Cobblestone and Natural Stone Paver installations:

(a) Sub-base: A compacted granular sub-base must be provided prior to installation. As a minimum guide, 100mm of compacted road base is required

for pedestrian applications and 150–200mm for light to heavy vehicular applications. Sub-base design is the sole responsibility of the installer and any engaged geotechnical or civil professional. The Supplier accepts no liability for product failure arising from inadequate sub-base preparation;

(b) Bedding: Cobblestones must be bedded on a suitable layer of coarse sand, dry mortar, or wet mortar as appropriate to the product and application, to a minimum depth of 25mm. The installer is responsible for selecting and preparing the correct bedding material for the specific product and use;

​

(c) Edge restraints: Adequate edge restraints (including concrete edging, kerbing, or proprietary paver restraints) must be installed at all free edges of

any Cobblestone or paver field prior to or during installation to prevent lateral movement. The Supplier accepts no liability for product displacement, lifting,

or field failure arising from absent or inadequate edge restraints;

(d) Jointing: Joints between Cobblestones must be filled with kiln-dried jointing sand, polymeric jointing sand, or mortar as appropriate to the application. The installer is responsible for selecting the correct jointing material and for re- sanding or repointing joints as required during the life of the installation;

​

(e) Sealing: Many Natural Stone Products including Cobblestones require sealing prior to use and periodic re-sealing to prevent staining, efflorescence,

and moisture ingress. Where sealing is recommended by the Supplier or Manufacturer, it is the Purchaser’s responsibility to apply an appropriate

sealer prior to use and to maintain the seal as required. Failure to seal or maintain the seal is not a product defect and does not give rise to a warranty

or return claim; and

​

(f) Quarry Lot consistency - Where visual consistency across a continuous surface is required, the Purchaser must ensure all Cobblestones and Natural

Stone Products installed on that surface are sourced from the same Quarry Lot. The Supplier will not accept claims for visible variation between products from different Quarry Lots. The Purchaser is responsible for ordering sufficient product from the same Quarry Lot to complete the project, including waste allowance.
